This week I sat down with the director of the Sea Pines Country Club, Linda Newsome. Linda has been an island area resident and country club manager for quite some time. She is exceptionally knowledgeable about our area, as well as the needs and wants of both part-time and full-time homeowners. Besides her knowledge of the community, she is exceptionally helpful and friendly.
The Sea Pines Country Club is absolutely stunning. It sits on one of the most beautiful pieces of land on the Island. The formal dining room, the outdoor pool, the indoor pool and the fitness center all look out over the tranquil marsh and golf course. The golf practice area and the tennis center are found in the front of the complex.
Above and beyond the property itself are the people. As Linda and I toured the complex we saw people setting up tee times in the pro shop, a group of people playing bridge in the game room, about a half of a dozen members in the indoor pool for water aerobics, about the same amount in the fitness center working with trainers, and a tennis tournament being enjoyed by both players and spectators. Such a flurry of activity!
Linda also spoke highly about the wonderful evening parties that are attended by both couples and singles. She explained that when a new member comes on board they are assigned a mentor who will introduce them to other members, and make sure that they know about all of the activities that would interest them. This makes it so much easier to make new friends with similar interests.
