There is so much to do on Hilton Head Island that you just don't stop. Check out how much fun my best friend from high school and I had with her daughter! There are not even any photos of our hours of pool time. Click on the photos to enlarge them.
She is a natural! I know adults that still can't pick up food with chopsticks.
On our first night we were starved for a huge meal! Off to Kurama's we went. The food was delicious and the entertainment was a hit! Be sure to check out the sushi bar. We have an abundance of wildlife on the Island. Check out this nosy dolphin... There are dolphin tours that go out of Palmetto Bay Marina and Broad Creek Marina. Check it out... http://cm.informationpages.com/sys/pageserver.dll?b=1100&p=5&s=0&f=&gp=&go=marina#0
If you come to the Island you really need to see it from the ocean to appreciate the true beauty.
Hilton Head Island beaches are the best because we have hard sand and the ocean does not get deep that fast. It is great for biking, sunning and letting the children play without fear of them going in over their heads quickly.
The Tiki Hut is an Island Tradition. It is located at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront and has volleyball, beach music and great coctails! The rumor has it that it may not be around much longer... better hurry! As we were walking home from dinner at Amigo's (great local mexican food) we passed by a woman and her son feeding the turtles and fish. They were feeding them bread and the heron was feeding on the fish.... eeek! We spent a few hours walking around Coligny Plaza. We stuffed our own teddy bear, Zoie, and browsed tee shirt shops and toy stores. We also walked over for breakfast at Skillets one morning. The french toast is delish! Sea Pines at Harbourtown has the best playground. It is choc full of swings, slides, climbing structures and this great tree house. Be careful though... your child may want you to build them the same in your backyard! Here is the link to directions to Harbourtown... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=145+Lighthouse+Rd,+Hilton+Head+Island,+SC+29928&ie=UTF8&z=15&om=1
After shopping in Harbourtown we took a little rest on the bench between the shops and the yachts. This statue is so great that the kids are not sure if he is real or not.
South Beach Marina in Sea Pines is great for shopping, sightseeing and dining. The Salty Dog is a definite hot spot on the Island. Plus... the kids love watching the birds playing in the trees while they enjoy their ice cream.
